A week ago Wednesday. He started to figure out okay. I've also got got a great shot -- pioli and I know that I've got a real good shot at. Eric Mangini. And I think -- from what I'm told he just became convinced that pioli wasn't ready to commit. The -- And so. Because he was not prepared. To wait. And perhaps be disappointed like the only ultimate decision. Whether he chose to go somewhere else forward -- chose to stay in New England. I Big East that look -- got to move on and of the four people he interviewed including Josh mcdaniels he thought that. That Eric Mangini was an eight close and nobody else was above would be so. Basically begins to under the conclusion okay. You know if -- talk dusty -- know what was the cream of the crop and I talked to judge -- everybody says the best offensive guy out there. Why am I going to wait any longer now you and I can sit here and say that process is flawed because ever have a shot at shorts. Ever had a shot -- Rex Ryan. Never got a shot at at at eight other teams coaches. You know we're still in the play offs but. You felt comfortable enough to means you about continue to make that decision.

Do you think there's a chance at pioli will come back to New England.

Yeah I think there's a chance he'll do that -- I had to be understood your right now I just don't now. I mean I really don't know there's certainly -- chance because clearly. There's only one other jobs out there right now Michael and to the best of my knowledge he had -- been offered the Kansas City job. Maybe he has but. You know I don't know if he did the cats. Aram. But I think that one of the things that's got that happened now is there's got to become. We we have to find out how serious the Chiefs are offering the job then you have to figure out whether. Pioli wants to go into this situation that is pretty much rock bottom probably change coaches. And you know I think -- the benefit they -- that the team would be very very young. But the downside is that even though they got 35 million dollars to work without -- next year. You know he got to fight to -- a regular -- pretty much everything because there's there's certainly not universal acclaim. As -- the talent on that roster in they might be young but they're not necessarily good.

We read today that Josh mcdaniels has been invited back to a second interview beginning of the week in Denver. Is it your read from your sources that mcdaniels. Has emerged as the front runner in Denver and -- offered the job do you think he'll --

I believe he has the front runner in Denver I also believe that that's the kind of placed. That would be great arm to go now guys like do not know judgment in -- I've met him once or twice in my life it's Super -- so I. I can't sit here and say I have any idea what he's going to do but I will say this. The reason why it sounds like it great to me. Is that. Josh mcdaniels. Is a young guy who like Mike Hsu inning and the year that Patten over -- it was far away. The number one offensive guy everybody's radar screen and even know what makes a lot of sense right now. For pat bullets go deep sense because he's got a 32 year old offensive coordinator and Jeremy Bates. Who was eight it was very very close. With Jay Cutler Cutler. -- the offense flows Bates it would make the most sense I think -- deep sense of guys. And let his offense goal on this course but both and it made it -- everybody interviewed right from the start. That he's going to take the bad guys not the best defensive. So clearly he's seen something in -- that he likes. And I wouldn't be surprised if either they've got to understand that I'd vote doesn't hate Mike Shanahan. He just about that the time had come to make change. And I think he used. Brett Josh mcdaniels right now as the heat. I really low ego very young very bright offensive mind who can make an exciting yeah. I'm in Denver again.

We were talking about this earlier Peter after watching national championship game last night. Is any team in your opinion interest did an urban Meyer interest -- to the point where. He might be getting a phone call the next couple days. --

I'll be honest would -- Michael what I have talked to I've talked to every -- Now with the exception of Denver you know look at her coach I've asked. All the questions that you have to ask I'll be honest I don't sense any interest. And I do know that they've had fallen. Knows Bob stoops and Bay's interest it and stoops but. I do not sense any interest in college coaches right now. And I think it has a lot to do with. The -- trail of Bobby Petrino the the -- I'd -- trail of Nick Saban. You know leaving Miami. And the absolute failure miserable failure Steve Spurrier and Washington all three of those guys were supposed do. Have the magic potion they were supposed to have the answered. And Mike I think the reason why NFL scenes are less and less interest it is time goes on in the guys is that no matter how good you are in college no matter awarded miracle worker you -- in college. You know in the NFL. All three of these guys could not underlined could not cope. -- Happy innings that they use the -- it. And he killed Nick -- killed Bobby Petrino. It was driving Steve Spurrier and outs and so all of those guys like I think eight. If there's there's just no interest by thinking experimenting. -- another guy who if he has -- years is probably going to lead you to go make for a million a year somewhere back in college football's so. -- I felt that there's any interest in our guys -- like.

We were talking about the playoffs this year and how in our opinion it should bring about two possible changes Michael. Proposes one I've proposed the other. Mike changes I would not allow an eight Nate team even if their division winner to play host to a twelve and fourteen in a playoff game. To -- wouldn't agree and especially at twelve and fourteen that are being made team.

Insanity. Number I mean sort of reward for a team winning the division should beat them make the playoffs automatically but should -- To give the division winner -- lousy. Our home game. Now San Diego was well either and is playing very well right now alleluia. Nearly eight it would for an eight. They rallied in -- bad decision to win it. And now you're making -- Indianapolis Colts not winners of nine and overall. And it's it's it's it's. If it almost is dishonest that a product it really is it's treating the wild card winner as second class citizen. And it's it's it's crazy and it shouldn't happen in the playoffs should be seeded one district haven't we know bearing being. The Patriots would be picking twentieth instead of 24 as the best. Non playoff team. That's.

Well and I was going to ask you about overtime 'cause I've read your your comments about it now I made this simple suggestion maybe it's too simple for me. You just play let's say it's a five let's say it's -- you just play in overtime period Perry you just play. When it's over whichever team is leading wins.

I wouldn't mind that I would rather have -- the second possession of overtime begins sudden -- And the reason that. And -- 88 eat your idea. Would be I wouldn't AM PM I'm 98%. Favor of that but. The only reason why I'm in favor of potentially less hard time on the field. Is that. You know the threat of injury right now as. Become. Peter let's talk about the games themselves. Having played this weekend. I see you think that the the Giants get by Philadelphia. I actually think Philadelphia is going to be able to sneak by New York why do you like the Giants in that game.

Kinda dropped that happens -- a career -- happens twice you never played. -- everything that employers. Would anybody's game. Eagles' Brian Westbrook made the play Domenik Hixon didn't Eagles went -- six and I'd really like equals I admired Eagles I think that. That they are comedians. Team out of position. -- hot team all but I I also think there's when they played a month ago. Brandon Jacobs knee hurt and he came up the middle of the third quarter he was no factoring in. Eight Eagles were able put. Brian Dawkins down in the box. And the Giants who -- them over -- over you know 13631. Went two months ago in Philadelphia. Couldn't get their running game going. Brandon Jacobs now significantly healthier he's healthy as he's been probably. Since October. And I just think that the giants' running game. When a relatively healthy as bandit as good as any learning English football is here so I think that's what's going to what.

How difficult is it for a team that had to play last week. To go on the road and beat a team that is at home and has been sit around wait for a.

And I short week. I mean -- other Ravens. I talk to Derrick Mason yesterday and believe me at all being use. Help. Is a good reason why the NFL needs to name. That additional week. You know the -- Rocco going to play better than have a nine completion day against Tennessee this week at -- keep it last week against Miami. And Rocco in his first playoff game ever on quote hostile -- Zero sacks or interceptions -- fumble it make a mistake he just wasn't particularly accurate but.
