And I love Donovan to have connections thinking for his supper. It almost end. In Philadelphia. And I think here you're going to see your boy from Chestnut Hill. We end when his first NFL playoff game in Matt Bryant so. That's going to be a lot of fun this week.

Before we get to games Peter we hit some of the news from this past obviously won't want to see what you know or what do you think the chairs -- kind of sit here after the music dance but first of all going back to last Sunday in the and the story regarding Tom Brady I know. Tom -- a colleague of yours he came I was very strong stories saying that Brady's. Behind schedule can you just tell us what your response was to that because I I sought a little bit in Monday morning quarterback and I know you said it on air but just so where clear around here we all know that Curran says. Brady's behind schedule but of the gist of what you said was your people were telling you he was ahead of schedule.

Yeah and I mean that Al -- studio I don't think that's very rare in mountain in a situation like this. Because this is a weird situation I mean first of all. Tom Brady goes and has his surgery done by a guy who. You know the Patriots have never said whether eight he went with their blessing. You don't directly -- they don't talk about surgery. But he you know I've got to think that -- you know they probably would've wanted to little more control over the surgery. And who did it where it was in the rehab all that other stuff especially when things went a little bit wrong and there's an infection in the but but having said that. I think. That. It's in a situation like this where you have in the week when not being certain. Of where exactly. The you know of of how the surgeon did -- and everything like that and and they are being a little bit of a disconnect there I think there might -- a natural. -- to have a disagreement about. Where you are in relationship in the rehab and and the recovery. So here even -- you know what Tom said is that. That he was behind. And his sights set on the Eric said I'd trust Tom I think Tom is an excellent reporter. I think he's very very good. But you know a couple of people who like talk to on Sunday night and our Sunday afternoon. I couldn't confirm what Tom had and what I heard instead was that. He was actually ahead of schedule and doing well. And there is no fear in fact. That he'd be ready to go a 100% in training camp so. You know as I sit on TV. This is one of those things because the Patriots are so secretive with -- injury information. And and you you'd look at how they handle things that. A lot of times you have to look for smoke signals coming out of chimney and I think the only time we're really -- know this is about seven weeks from now with free agency begins. End you know I assume we all assume that the franchise Matt capsule. And then because the franchise number in that triple the one year deal is going to be about fourteen point three million dollars. Then you have the whole issue low will the Patriots agreed to trade him to the highest bidder. Or will they see as an insurance policy just have them on the roster in case they need for next year so. Once we start hearing whether -- St. Louis and and San Francisco and any other quarterback needy teams we cap room. Whether if they get rebuffed by the Patriots and I think we probably have a pretty good idea that they're worried about Brady coming back and be ready to go to start camp.

It seems like that the value was there are that the franchise and Matt Cassel and maybe get something for his services and and you are mentioned the news of the week -- Obviously Mike Shanahan and Denver is leading to a new coach opening and Aaron Josh mcdaniels name is in the mix in Scott you always name in the -- in Cleveland -- How much movement should the Patriots fans expect Peter potentially offensive coordinator -- becoming head coach in Scott pioli with a chance to maybe a couple -- there in Cleveland.

In you know I think that. There's going to be some movement probably with the Patriots. Mean. I would expect. That you don't -- got. Kind of the director of football operations slash GM job available and which they do obviously in Cleveland Kansas City. I'd be very surprised if one of those organizations didn't -- Scott and offer. And did they do. You know I guess if the -- did not I think he would take it. So I think we we sort of have to wait now. Mike guess the next step in this. I in this story is and I don't think he's interviewed with Kansas City yet. But obviously the next step is when he interviews with Kansas City sometime this weekend door or next week. Then I think on the -- little bit more about that. You know I've been talking to people in Cleveland and I do think he's number one guy in their list. I think he's also the number one guy on the list in Kansas City so I would expect he'd get an offer at least one of those places that would be my guest now. First -- these deals goes. Yeah. I think it's going to be very interesting and I think this is going to be case of coaching musical cheers in some ways you know. Will pioli choose to take meet the Angels win them. Or try to take him with -- you know I I don't know I think that's going to be very interesting thing to watch. And I'm just not sure right now that. That there are some of these places that would be good ships for because -- like for instance they just can't seeded Denver thing working. Because I mean would you think about it they've got a young guys they've almost -- the carbon copy. Meet these needles. Right now in. Even in Denver immediate what you want to do when you have a coaching staff I think is you want to hire a guy who's going to add something. Do you ever -- coaching staff and with -- is ten mile being sort of a young highly thought of offensive guys. If you want to add to your coaching staff with. The Denver Broncos have Jeremy Bates is -- 32 year old offensive coordinator Bruce who's very much into sync with Jay Cutler. As their offensive coordinator signed through 2011. So. I don't know economic stimulus doesn't seem like a great fit there. And I and again I think you have to wait and see. What happens dusty Sprague -- take a job somewhere it seems like he's going to be hot guys this year. You know what happens to Rex Ryan and Jim Schwartz. And Leslie Frazier three other hot the offensive coordinators. And the benefit. For the team meals is Dicey at is that he's probably the number one guy if you want to offensive minded coach. To go in there he's probably the number one guy out there so for him I think that's that's of great benefit.

What do you think Peter is the most attractive head coaching opening out there right now.

Oh boy that's a good one. Well I mean I'd have to say -- I think Kansas City is going to open. I think Kansas City is very interesting I think -- bad team right now I don't love their young. Players they're they're collection of young talent really at all. You know they've got a few good guys but I'm not sure that. That they're they're young talent is is that seedling for Super Bowl team. But having said that they get 35 million dollars a cap room available next year. And they've got an ownership. Clark on his 43 years old who I think is going to be very aggressive. In trying to build the winner so I think Kansas City is a very interesting job I think Denver is a very interesting job because of that is going to be the only. Coaching job available. That has. Potential superstar quarterback that at least this surface to this point. So I think I think it. That if you're if you're looking for a team that. Really has a chance to it to turn it around over the next couple years with some smart management. I think Kansas City is that I think to walk in tomorrow. And have a pretty good chance to win and I think Denver is a pretty good Chad I think Cleveland. I think the Jets are in big cap trouble plus Spears seems to be so much. Kind of mayhem around far and around all that. And and you know Detroit. I mean what other team could you say that you're year to top executives Mayhew in and -- They -- how can he go low and sixteen and bring him back is the cornerstones of figuring out how to get out of the hole. And I realize that they have been they were numbers two and three wood Matt Dillon lived here in Dillon got whacked but it just. I don't know there's something other than winning in Detroit that seems to be the most important thing job preservation seems to be the most important thing. And then Cleveland. I don't know you know Cleveland has got a lot of dead weight on its cap right now. Nobody there seems happy they got prima Donna's in Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow. Probably need to get a fresh start somewhere helps that. That seems to me to be almost start from scratch franchise other than. Maybe and I think maybe you have a quarterback in Brady went.

Well you look at the all these teams are talking about none of these will be part of the playoffs in the wild card this weekend. Two wild card teams that I here in Atlanta in Indianapolis Peter had better records than the teams they're traveling to yet match that with the Patriots winning eleven games and not getting in -- I'm really looking any sort of tweaking you know by the NFL to this playoff format -- in the next couple years.

I think there should be some tweaking in the playoff format but not in a major way I mean. The Patriots not making a play out it's just a fluke it's you know they're they're probably the best teams since 1990 cannot make it. But I don't think he changed the rules because one thing you're screwed up it the one the one rule that I wish they would change. I do not think that the division winner should have the opportunity to automatically host. Wild card game or at least one home game in the playoffs I think that's wrong because do you look at. Meaning Indianapolis Colts this year obviously got two great examples this year. The Colts are twelve and four and they are traveling to a neat -- team. And that's that's idiotic. They beat him head to head when they played. The other one is Atlanta traveling to Arizona by any stretch Arizona looks to -- to be the worst division champion. Since -- eighteen years that the league is gone to this this new format where yep twelve playoff teams that attempt. And they're terrible apparently. They've been terrible lately. And to meet. Look at I look at Arizona I'd say it's ridiculous I mean by by any measure at all. Atlanta's a better team and they are traveling 2400 miles you know and they just. To me I think comments attest to prevail I think that that that the playoffs. You should definitely get as crazy as a divisional winner you'd definitely should should give an automatic bid in the playoffs. But after that you ought to be seeded by record junior conference.

Well at least in Arizona in Minnesota you don't have to worry about a sold out crowd. Giving huge home field advantage and yeah. This is an embarrassment how how can this happen they're still talking I guess side but we've been trying to follows along here but they could black out the TV coverage. Of the home games in Arizona and Minnesota because they haven't sold out games that.

Yeah tonight using one of the I mean I think you have to look at this in a couple of ways N. I'm not sure this is the year to kill the fans and -- greater Minneapolis or greater Phoenix for a couple of reasons number one. If your team is in used to getting into the playoffs every year. You've got used to getting that. To getting that playoff ticket bill in the mail. Four I pick a number I don't know we need to be yet for tickets and he had a bite for the play out -- need to you'd ability one million pay 900 barks or whatever at whatever it is. I mean first of all you get that -- to but December 15. That's like it you're ready start season ticket bill on December 15 the -- You're going to pay that eventually but I am at sure you're gonna you're gonna find the money to pay for tickets that you didn't expect. Have to pay for I think the other thing is. I mean -- gotta be pretty sensitive to the economy this year and that's why. He get people losing jobs at a record rate in this country I mean I am not. I'm not kill and anybody for not buying playoff football tickets. In this economy.

You look at the games and NBC will have this weekend a couple of good -- the map -- game the Chestnut Hill guy you talked about. He's going to Arizona and Indianapolis in the San Diego that's a Saturday night game with the Al Michaels and Madden and company. Is there -- game out of the four this weekend Peter that -- thank you -- at. Circle is saying this is a must watch -- with the NFL's we're going to watch -- walks were football fanatic.

Yeah. You know I think -- beat San Diego game is going to be fascinating because. I mean Philip Rivers in his last four games eleven touchdowns one interception Manning. It'll -- you know his last nine. It's been a 73%. -- in the best quarterback in football the last two months of the season so. You get the best quarterback in the last two months verses the hottest quarterback in December. I think that's going to be fun and I think it's it's always compelling. To see. To see what's going to happen Peyton Manning were watching one of the all time greats. Be watching them while he attempts to win another Super Bowl. And I think in some ways I mean it's not like -- has been their Kryptonite. The city has been a very tough team knocked them out of the playoffs 52 weeks ago. So I mean it's been it's been a real interest things sort of matchup between these two teams but the one other thing I would say is. I expect. There's probably Tony Dungy last game with the Colts if they lose so and that's always something to to sort of watch for I think we all agree that. He's been really wanted to great gentleman in sports not only in football so you know he'd probably want to see him leave to coach another day.

Before let's ago you mentioned the may -- in New York and you know if the Patriots are going to be in the playoffs you want to see the jets' soft for an perceives to be. Sox operate going on down there right now. There's the whole fact that you know for the few -- fans around here that were holding out hope that the Jets can help out while that that was a lap down. What's going to happen with far. Man Jeannie who of course is Judas around here is like no I mean we know what direction to him they go and connected to that. Is it really realistic for me NG need to be hired immediately after being fired after the collapse. That we saw down the stretch.

Well I mean. It's probably only in New York they're mean genie is seen as the biggest both flown a bigger -- and rich coat tight. I mean some guys that you know it's. I -- object to the way and a particularly coaches but. Eat eat eat eat eat the ability is he has just been drawn in quarter in this town and you know he basically has been kicked out of town and don't let the door hit -- in the rear end on the way out it's it's it's pathetic what we'd do. In this in this culture and I mean sports are fun. Well when we make people. He you know one week publicly humiliate people who were doing nothing other than trying their hardest to win. It just it makes me sick it really doesn't mean I wanted to vomit this week look at that and read the coverage but. You know the bottom line in the whole thing is I would be surprised to if he got a job. But I will tell you this -- of the owner of the Browns. Is totally smitten. With -- and -- Has agreed interview with a the other night thinks that he's learned his lesson. And who knows I mean I doubt that he'll hire. Eight you know -- I really do but you'd never can tell my feeling is. That it's it's quite likely. That the Jets are going to go hard after Mike Shanahan when he emerges -- is. Post firing cocoon which you know he's in right now piece and either way for a few days but. I think it's I think it's more likely than not. That champion will be number one guy and it gets less.

I'd certainly interest staying in it's hot a hot stove talk in doing what the Patriots out of the playoffs first time since 2.
