What if they held the Patriots Friday. And you basically didn't talk much Patriots because it would appear that that's going to be the case. Technically at the Patriots Friday we are at Gillette Stadium. Will have our Patriots Friday irregulars whatever. Congregation of players stepped through the door. And in the whole rest of today I have a feeling Michael holly will be talking a lot of base.

For the second time in a week John Henry has made a public pronouncement that has -- totally baffled. Earlier in the wake when he said -- ten year deal for us all of -- said why would you say that even if you think that why would you say that. And I cannot come up with a reason why he would make the email announcement that he made last night.

What him and you can't come up with a reason there is no reason -- tell me what it is the reason is it's over. I can be and it could be seen here's the thing Michael even -- it is all over it doesn't make sense to say why not. What do you gain what are you looking for you're telling your you're you are and and forming with the fan base they don't get your hopes up about Mark Teixeira. They're asking for too much money we made him a fair deal but now they're going to a stratosphere. That we're not comfortable with if that's actually what happened.

Well and and like in and an and I think yeah you're right yeah I I I understand. I mean I I've heard all the different scenarios one John Henry is calling Scott Boras to -- certainly possible. You know Scott for a fifth in that room in Texas yesterday and says. I gotta tell you boys that we got 200 on the table that's where you're going to -- ago and they all shake hands they thanks very much sealer. And and then make the pronouncement that we -- on the email last night it's possible that's what they're doing. But even that doesn't make cents because if you don't get Mark Teixeira. If you think the Yankees in the Angels in the national Terrell bidding against each other.

You want them to be an even higher. You want them to pay even more you don't want to take the Red Sox off the table if you're not going to get -- but the Yankees spend 1240 warm up that's what it today.

Well I think the Red Sox are. Aware that the Yankees aren't in this thing that's won in 2. So what if if the number is. Let's say the numbers to fifteen let's say the Washington Nationals. It's got bourses Jones-Drew a walk in the Washington Nationals have presented a ten year 230. Million dollar offer. And Scott Boras told the Red Sox yesterday. You don't hear the nationals go to 250 to sixty to seventy that's fractured business now what your business is moving on going to plan B plan C plan. So the national spent two point. 230 to 45 doesn't make different -- there in the National League. And that's not your business.

You don't and in in my opinion John Henry made that his second mistake of the week. I don't say anything until -- the press conference where Mark Teixeira put that on. I don't say anything to anybody I do business the way the -- been trying to do biz why all along I don't say anything to anybody. I I -- whatever happens behind the scenes happens and I. I don't I don't try to eliminate us I don't try to of that to to tweaks Scott Boras -- or Mark Teixeira I don't say anything to anybody.

Well I would I don't I don't think this is a mistake and all I do think it was a mistake. Saying that I would never give a player ten years we don't believe in that we may have which may have been exactly what the other way it today. But but in terms of things up there right now. Back to my original point the Red Sox have their own business to worry about. That means they have other free agents to pursue I'd say go after a pitcher that makes everything better starting pitcher. Who can give you fifteen to seventeen win and maybe that's Derek Lowe who knows. But you have your business to take care of in terms of free agency and he had your your business to take care of at home. Your fan base is wondering. What's going on they keep hearing that the Red Sox are pursuing Mark Teixeira. They hear. That the the brain trust has gone to Texas for a face to face meeting. With Teixeira and Scott boards and then he's going to leave them hang. Until he he. Is wearing a nationals Jersey and Washington DC.

I think that's right I -- Noe just the opposite yeah I absolutely leave everybody hang and I don't want anybody to know what I'm -- what I'm Dillon. I I I will stand by this for the second time and a week I think John Henry's made a mistake.

I don't see it I mean I couldn't I couldn't disagree with -- now. If they are bluffing. In that your question. Are they bluffing or not. If if they're not bluffing -- it is what it is says that the man of Foxboro says and -- arm out and James Brown but. If if if today. If they're telling the truth and it's over -- You move on to the next free agent target got a pretty good team with a game seven of the American League Championship Series you're going to be our right. You gotta go ahead and you guys you you put as much money down as you think you have. But we're out of this thing. And it could put Boris in a very difficult position beat nobody can hit it gives that other team. Ammunition you don't need to give them it gives them ammunition against abortion if Boris is back in into a corner now. Dusty defeat does he risk losing the Red Sox which is -- attack the Red Sox are the boogie man. That he is used against other teams and other teams other boogie man that he is -- against the Red Sox.

Michael I don't disagree with any of that my point is you don't do -- publicly. I think it's true for those two teams and knock the Red Sox I think Anaheim would have to outbid significantly because at least -- led to believe. That the west coast is not exactly what Mark Teixeira as white as a mom and nationals would have to outbid because let's be honest winning is not going to be an option for a one. So I think those two teams would have to command and blow the doors off this thing they have to say okay ten years 200 million. Or whatever number it is now nine years to -- group. Twenty million whatever it may have to do that in order to get this done I don't think the Red Sox add two and I think that's why they wouldn't.

Yeah I think. I think are having somebody. If this -- you know we have to keep saying this if this is true. If it is if this is not a bluff and there is another team out there and Scott Boris is not lying about the presence of this other team. That is willing to put up huge numbers. We're looking at probably a ten year deal. And we're probably looking at. A minimum of 215. Million dollars. I think probably not a lot of data to -- I was gonna say 200. An and I think it's -- nine or ten year deal at a minimum of 200. And there's an opt out in -- you know what the Red Sox would would do a twenty million dollar deal I don't -- ten year they would -- it because 200 million for ten years twenty million figure that. I the owner of the team told me if I don't I don't know are the teams -- it but if they felt like. They were fifteen because that assists look at that total dollars. They offered let's say they offered 18185. And they felt like they were fifteen million dollars away from getting Mark Teixeira I think it would be creative enough. The close it feels like it's as low as 200 I don't understand about the owner of the team's -- now do ten years. But I think it's a stupid number it's a crazy number. That -- probably probably being too conservative right now we took forty. Now whoever is offering at the Yankees aren't and it's in the Red Sox aren't in Webber's put up that number can't afford. That the Washington Nationals they can't afford they definite candidate and the they're payroll last year with 55 million dollars.

And the irony is it in one of the roughest times roughest I can not economic times. In the history of this country. The team and our nation's capital. Is over spending spending money that it doesn't have. As our as our leaders tell us that we need to cut back in -- It unemployment as high and that some of the biggest names in finance some of the biggest names -- in the in the country. Have to cut back. From their staff because that he has the they can't they can't balance the books. A lot of these companies are in the red in the Washington Nationals. The almost irrelevant and not even ten years old Washington Nationals. I'm going to put an offer like that on --
