Baseball over football is here in and set last items like couch watching the game and I think it. -- out that last -- don't you'll go back a question after watching the game like that you know Richard Seymour sits up and after the game Q we talked about it. You talk with Emmitt Smith. He actually said good question Emmitt Smith would blow but I but of course commitment that they don't. Know. Blow out nobody --

Every bit passive about what what they've decided to do. Once Tom Brady went down and and there had to be something extra they went four and he said Seymour said the threat that -- question. We start we decided. We were going to do everything with a sense of purpose we need to play with a that the purpose -- hit with purpose. Oh we we need to take the field. With that sense that there's something bigger than we're just -- their play football and and last night he saw. I mean Michael Pittman left the game. He fell on top of the football but the reason he left the game. Was because he was pushed down.

Hard on top of the -- I Ty Warren I mean that was a hard it was hard hits out there. Last night and maybe they were playing with a little too much purpose the first fumble. From Andre Hall you know he saw a lot of guys trying to pick it up trying to pick it up but brown with a and that the wily vet. Jerod Mayo. All of 21 to two years old time week in time decides to appeal despondent -- right he's trying to pick -- but at the vet Jerod Mayo sides. The best thing to do is just to follow on the football and secured. But every. Every hit last night Tedy Bruschi had a had a huge. On Jay Cutler I mean after Cutler released the ball but he got there like -- at the ball's released smashed him. Everybody out there was playing James Sanders had a yeah Sanders. A lot of guys just -- and high high level.

was it was fun to watch now. I I do think that you know the Denver Broncos sort of aided and abetted in their own demise last night. And I thought after the second fumble I thought. And you you just can't get on the plane here. -- beat UT you better find another way to get home -- like Providence will at least you'll be spent a lot of time promise that you can't you can't go home with the Denver Broncos. And and is it it was Calvin Lowry right. Business first and Calvin I think. Can duplicate it well. We we call and Calvin we call on toast there they decided he was he was that he. He looked like Deltha O'Neal did the week before right. Yeah it was just like that's the guy am preachers first name's -- number 37. He's the guy you know we are going after all night long they ran an outside all night long. They passed that's tied at wherever wherever Calvin Lowry wise they found him.

And it would have been interesting maybe the Patriots. Would have had to deal a similar thing. If Jay Cutler on the first play of the game doesn't -- his finger on Vince Wilfork helmet. Because it was clear immediately and -- a few times in -- and Jaworski and -- has pointed this out he kept going to the sideline. The first he asked down. And then there was an an -- time for him to get up Patrick Ramsey wasn't ready. He went back he ran the play and then when Patrick Ramsey was ready he said not on out I got here -- already -- but it was clear. -- he does wasn't throwing the ball the same couldn't get any type of velocity on it. Maybe if Jay Cutler is healthy. -- they are challenging the Patriots a lot more with the deep ball. Brandon Marshall we got Eddie Royal that the fantastic rookie so. They they really can go up and down the field but last night. That little that finger injury which looks like a small thing but as a huge thing for quarterback effects -- grip and affect affect your power on the football. That may have been had a huge influence influence on how they chose to attack the Patriots don't.

Misunderstand this next point because I don't want to take much away from the Patriots about last night I don't want to take much away from Matt Cassel not played very well. It's that bad before I mean that ES. And -- just talk a few minutes ago before on here and -- I'm pat all. I'm column Mike Shanahan and my offices and -- yet explained we can't stop any they'll let me know let let's get some mystery. Mike ankle that kept up his volleys in her whole hour call not there and I -- and -- it up I'll run it that way here -- well whoever's franchise that is he better find out find somebody. Okay coach and -- some players who complacency fans because they can't stop and I mean that is all.

I'm really surprised -- the Broncos are at this point on defense to match it's like they have. That there on talented on defense some. Good players -- Well thought Champ Bailey -- great players yeah Bailey is a tremendous player. And his brother fits into their scheme and he got hurt last night you both Bailey. Brothers and for the daily what you don't what it is. Is it it comes out of this and football it's always you want to see how the game is being wonder how the game has been in -- you start the lines. They have they have pretty good linebackers they're pretty good a defensive backs their defensive line -- shaky. They got they you know one of the guys you're relying on -- your defensive line is former Jets bust Dewayne Robertson. Well you know got that intelligence of things they got some nice. Little edge guys are talking about -- yes you do have to fit him to your -- somebody has to. It's a nice edge guys but I'm talking about them beat guys we're going to Shell who take on guards. We're going to blow by the senator. They don't really have guys like that.

Well lately and the only other negative on the -- about last witches they're not very good on the defensive line. And yet Matt Cassel got sacked six times yeah he got accurate EEI mean and it looked you when I have never played this game. You know except in the backyards with -- our our Brothers and our friends okay. And were sit and watch in the game on TV and our internal clock is -- get rid of the ball get rid of the ball get rid of the ball. He's got to figure that out I mean you know I I. I haven't gone back through the DB art and then looked at every sack a couple of he was overwhelmed. The one where. There are Clark got -- the block killed and -- chance but there's a couple of sacks where where I'm gone okay it's time to -- of it don't but you'll get. And Eddie's just hold onto it too long time.

What I think that's part of it holding on to a too long I think another part of it is just a flat out recognition. Now. Unfortunately for for Matt -- he is following a legend. Anytime you take over for a legend no matter who it is and whether it's a coach or player you'll always be compared to that person. Pete Carroll went through it when Bill Parcells. Left and he was the next guy so. Matt Cassel take -- for Tom Brady we've gotten so accustomed to seeing Tom Brady. Recognized. Where the protection should be. And what where the defense was trying to pressure. The Patriots -- at the line and he was able to at times many times he was able to. Cut off a problem before became a problem and I nipped in the bud. And we and we never even paid attention to a -- so good it was a second nature to. A lot of this stuff for Matt Cassel is just a lack of experience he doesn't know. At times what defenses are trying to do it as a recognize all of the coverages and so. When you could have when you could set up the protection in many cases where a veteran quarterback could. You -- it. Mab will. By gained ten -- game eleven. But this is still very early in his development. And so a lot of these acts that look like all he had no chance -- but the line's got to do a better job. Necessarily maybe the quarterback has to do a better job of putting those guys and then different this.

Putting him in different positions. You know recognizing who's open and with a quicker which. I'm not sure how much of that as a learned skill and how much of it is just god given -- their and there are some computer going on in Brady's brain. That allows him to see things quicker. And I'll take it back to a hockey analogy I talked one time with a coach about Gretzky. And I -- ice. To skate in the league. He's not the you know the harnisch -- league. I said what is there that's different. And he said he's what's different is he sees the game differently than everybody else on the ice he sees it. From a different perspective. And Brady's like Brady sees the football field differently than most quarterbacks in the NFL see Peyton Manning sees it that way. It's it's -- more than anything else and it's quick it's it's like okay that isn't going to work. And and and you know in the in the amount of time it takes the snap your fingers that decision has already been made and I moved on animal body.

Well you know I agree with you of course the greats and in all sports see the game differently but. I don't think you can discount experience or inexperience. May not I've not seen Matt Cassel is going to be one of the all time great quarterbacks he's probably -- odds are he won't be at an all time great.

Odds are after this year he'll go back be in a back up.

Or or east are going somewhere else because he's in his contract year going somewhere else and starting from one of these teams. That that -- quarterback -- up you know you think you can beat out JT O'Sullivan. And Alex Smith in San persist over coach Mike singletary I think so I don't know if he's going to be an all time great but I think he's going to get better recognizing the stuff. The more he plays I think he's going to be a much better cord accident at three weeks than it than it was last night.

And I -- there is some learned abilities here somethings I'll do learn. And there are some that and there's this you just -- and aren't something right I do recognize there's this.

But I but I think god just playing playing these games and being on this team. Which we think it's a pretty good team in this NFL the other being on this team will accelerate the development of --

That was that was the best he looked all year got. I agree with that you know he got some help because it was a pretty bad the fence but let's not take too much of the credit away from -- Because he was he was more decisive and I've seen him other than sacks. I thought his passing was pretty good the one that -- it. Almost got picked off -- turnaround on the replay. Was just terrible throw you know worry was scramble under the right through it behind Kevin -- can. Actually it was funny because it was Lowry who who. Sort picked it off but then didn't get the the interception right that was terrible throw most of his throws I thought -- pretty good.

Last well a couple of things helped them last night and this is what we wanted to see from the Patriots deep into -- you without these guys about this stuff. They have five turnovers. -- forced five turnovers last night compared to San Diego zero turnovers zero sacks a very comfortable. Just it impeccable. Philip Rivers I mean he he probably didn't have to washes Jersey. After that San Diego game last night they were getting to both quarterbacks that got to Patrick Ramsey and it got to Jay Cutler so he had a defense that was help them out. This number just blows my keeps staring at a Catholic I can't believe it's actually true. 257. Yards rushing on thirty carries at this I don't.

Which Nomar amazes me more that's a six point eight average the fact that they that they ran the ball 38 times is unbelievable. But 258. Yards rushing game and you know Sammy Morris got hurt. Basically -- path just for half had a 138 yards at.

I have had a career high at the half of my boy band Jarvis Green -- best name in the NFL Cayman. And he did some good things Kevin Faulk did some good young says -- so the turnovers helped him the running game help them. And it's a simple thing but they they scored first. Three zip lead for for Matt -- that becomes six zip vineyard and you're thinking to yourself. -- to be able to take advantage of some of these turnovers it's going to be a night of 67 ousting yeah and then. Finally looks up with a Randy Moss -- he looks over the Randy Moss again in the rout is on. But I think they can help them out. With with defense and then you know forcing turnovers and been able to run the ball.

We -- here at Gillette on -- out Tuesday edition of Patriots Monday. Were back together again and will be for the foreseeable future. Are up Patriots Monday guys will be a traipsing in here at some point over the next couple hours in all likelihood -- tree and I'll. -- that means Richard Seymour. Ty Warren. I hope Vince Wilfork has calmed down enough that we can. Talk to him the fire was -- look like there's anything he was an angry man last night. I Tedy Bruschi. So we're hoping we get a chance talked all four of them but in whatever quarter or grouping that we get.
