I know you play the defensive side of the ball but how different is life now in the change of a quarterback.

Well what I made for -- I think we've we've gotten over the fact that. Not I'm not going to be I mean we've been practice sent on. -- to be honest here it is reflected an injury to camp when he when we come out and out there and I think when. Early on they would -- bowl and come practiced and when he -- practice. Arm but now now what it's it's it's different you know -- take a leadership role on the taking command of the offense did you hear. When the more -- called. I think it's. Obviously quarterback has got to be leader over there from the you got a good thing.

You know -- area whatever it sounds like hurricane -- his -- right here you just cover it up just a little. And it might. -- practiced did you notice anything this week as far as attention to detail. You know our focus has been thrown out thrown around a lot is it is did that increase for you guys just you know single Patriots stated that.

Well I mean it really had I'd like to think that I I try to focus -- try to very weak. That I got their don't. They're really related check him and we get a -- that we can't not when we got to rushed Corvette going to give up on. On third down all -- at shortstop Thomas Jones and Andy and wash -- in a running game so. Ethnic or us and respect but it you know take care -- what we're supposed to caravan. Arm -- try to create turnovers and all those that they -- and let the offense go out and almost see what what happened that we taking our jobs.

How unique is it when you're going up against a quarterback like -- Arafat not that he's a great quarterback we understand all of that. But that he improvise is so much Mike did. Certain things that you've probably work on certain plays certain tendencies that you pick up on. Suddenly he's doing something totally different and making it up on the --

Well I think you do there's there's a few challenges with threatened and one is just a supreme confidence in in in game plan quarterback and go out there you have to stop the regular played that is I'm plays and then also you have their way to try to stop the plate that. That Brett says I don't care I don't give a gentleman to make a play. And this is what's going to happen and so sometimes you make a play for Hammond. If you're awake you can sometimes you make a place for you.

Those are those plays evident Michael when you turn on at Miami tape and you say Bears that one there's that one shot right there this is where we gotta be on our game. Because we could take advantage of some of the things where he may get in the trouble.

I think that it BC I mean whether it. McCarty in look at the ball security without pocket or what his there's pressure. He's going to try to do that -- came -- that he can continue to do it and he may play as good -- and it just it's our job to. Mike they revamped their offensive line in the offseason. Noticeable difference from the film that you've seen.

Well I mean they're different I mean they've added. You know it certainly went -- spent. You know quite a bit of money you know seeing them. You know. Damien. Woody played right tackle arm. -- Already been a mainstay over there at left guard so. They must've thought it main goal and and in. Murders Sen and and now. And Moore did a good enough job to work stick around and added that it is so. After one game at cart up the album. Like that that the line in. You know at tight end a real active about francs in. Baker you know obviously it would it would didn't do with the new -- Keller broken open -- and so when -- clear -- They they give you a lot of our problems.

It wouldn't surprise me last week is that Jered Mayo played every single snap on the front does that surprise you.

Not that -- specifically talking -- linebacker spot and maybe you know. You're never right never got Savard scored can't actually while they usually get guys like -- improve in the complete belief in the -- and then bring him.

Expel -- that veterans and that a veteran group I mean you think Roman Phifer may become what you play present yeah you know -- played every single snap or. That wanted to date got here I mean talk about a professional and a guy that it was here could would be able to. Be a great mentor for Jerod Mayo would be -- by -- ultimate professional played every single snapper. For that from second he got here.

They'll go off of what you said in that you write that they brought in Patriots that is have brought in veterans to play -- linebacker spot. Including junior last year a regular basis. But they have shied away from drafting linebackers. High in the in the first round that's probably the reason. That we haven't seen somebody play every single you know snap them -- out of the gate the first game.

I think they'd normally traditionally you know it it is it's something that now there's a learning interpreter in the process. Aren't rod is. -- talent are on the football field and he's got a great minded attitude is unbelievable. Arm he wants to learn he wants to look. What want to do the right thing and he wants to be a great football assistant so I would say that it attitude -- Above and beyond is. Is it athletic ability.

Was a good week of practice for yes.

What it was that we've good week and and and hopefully it. It it it carried over to regain mean nasty you remember you tragedy -- to practice and gone out and played well now you've gone -- bad weeks of practice and gone -- in -- and just. Rebel groups but. He has confidence coming from practiced corner and I got to go out there aren't going to carry over and you've got to. Make play and you gotta make the right call you've got to make the right adjustments and you got to you know play. The way to you know you've practiced all week numb and you keep planet and you practiced didn't -- this -- or until -- You know anticipate different things that you go on the game and don't do that you know that you're you're pretty disappointed than just wasted all week.

And Mike what's what's the process here go with the you know the helmets in the communications system with the D -- here's your first real test on the road. Hostile environment how much do you think you guys might rely with that on that system.

All -- everywhere that you did we always used it and we used -- at the beginning and so you know would have met network try to be -- don't forward.

How how how long does it we're discussing this in the in the first hour about. How long it takes for it seemed to be able to create its identity. And you know Scott was mentioned in the fact that you know you didn't a lot of the guys together during the pre season does it take awhile before. You guys are able to establish that identity even when you're only. Adding or subtracting a few players on each side of the ball.

I would say that it would take longer than a week at switcher having them in a bank said. You know -- you look at it and it and the Patriots -- Matt I think every year we've always done something. New different. Always. You know trying to have different guys in Maryland has changed. Com. Every year been different I think we've all tried established that from the get go in. It has worked at a team to try to come and -- You know are each other and figure out and everybody plays. Call me -- so there's there's a lot of Barrett goes into. You know building an identity -- subsidy in hang your hat on.

Do you believe that the fact that you've got so many seasoned veterans on this team guys that have won before. That it's a little bit easier -- this team -- trying to move -- To what happened last Sunday. Early in the season and being able to go out there put it all together.

Mom aspect he couldn't there's different Derek if there are different games and had different things happen. -- different experiences that. You know you try to try to do it individually -- you're always going to feel bad for Tom and seeing what people. He put into you know -- game to try to make -- he better what he's done interest. Franchised and in this -- these players. You know I think some of that -- deal with individually by army collectively as a team. I think we all understand the goal and that and -- you know each week. You have to prepare and you go out and try to win a game and that element. That you do it again and it hit -- on Eaton and now we're just did you get started.

Mike how important is if you -- linebacker group you guys are all your natural positions now that seems like in years past you. You particulars mode as of jump around. -- fill in the holes. Look pretty comfortable for linebackers out there on Monday as the feel me on the summit.

Well -- that they're saying you -- you know yours to play better but. Not banked it. You know as bad things can change I mean I don't know -- this -- one week where. ADR plant outside and Tedy and enter otters are so certainly you look at Ted Hendry did. And those two guys that you know if they're healthy and -- games you know ball well they'll be. Doby in their secret bets that are natural spot but not -- seat and you never know what could happen that a lot of guys played conditions.

And he's talked about Gerrard talked about the perimeter guys yet some young corners out there were they a little wide -- last week in you know high you can handle those guys -- going on the road how much can you guys is veterans help those guys including guys like Rodney back there.

While Matt baker the second day they have testing don't want I think Rodney. Somberly. Meet those garden -- too loyal. You know match of those guys. You know relay whatever corners in the game you know what what horse and I work adult. You know we -- so. You're -- you know who'd been a game out right place certain routes that you're -- you to drop in top -- let him know where -- going to be so they help being so we're just just communication with regard to sit through early in their main. You can play it was not for so many years to three or four years. That it yeah you'd you'd try to don't have that you -- to player communication still be okay but. I'm now in the military you just have to make sure that you communicate everybody talking and Everett a percentage.

Certainly they all looked like they were on the same play page of that lasting and where you've got the first and goal from the five. You stop them on four downs actually five when you called time out there and ended up evidence do it for five down that was a pretty impressive stuff to close up.

Well I think something that you know maybe we can hopefully hang -- on nearly.
