Question for you of course but for me like having brought up in central mass. It's not easy to lead the place. In in certainly there's no better place really do. To be a baseball be right in the box and because in the audience we have so. It wasn't it was an NEC to expect. You know their vision in my future my agent in exactly coincide in. In you know who. Well in and I heard it from from three different sources who have direct knowledge of the negotiations. In in you know -- We're talking about many so whether or not he actually had a change of heart. I can't really speak to that but the reality is sin and I'm surprised it's Scott. United as it adamantly as he did but the reality is that that they had a conversation. Deciding and Theo Epstein. Within the hour out after the trade was made official -- it looked you know. But if you dropped the options. Any any aspect and and and give full effort in. And deal basically said you know -- that trade -- left the station and are. Packed packed place Sox going -- UA LA. But hey you know right to me you know it. It was a surprising no because we've seen any flip -- so many times. On you know whether he wanted to be here are not. I think in the -- He may have said she assists this is a lot of up rooting. Of my family and everything protest too much. From what I've told from from people close and any distinctly that you know it's -- you -- was very happy. In Boston. There's there's you know very active Brazilian community in in Boston. Yet had a wide circle of France and Holland and I would have been interest to be a fly on the wall on the the conversation and and there are various household. When that news came down that they record LA but he certainly has played like -- happy camper this weekend destiny palace.

Yeah -- he's playing great Gordon I want to know from you do you think they could have. What -- that's certainly the way the Red Sox interpret it. So I don't know Scott it was a window there that a holding -- gone away in in that first power but. There is a tacit admission -- but by and maybe it's not so maybe that the but it looked good there wasn't any subtleties to it at all but yeah you know on our master now because. You know you guys aren't aren't drop and Sox -- me and it did you work on the trip to Japan and I'm it to Seattle -- right I mean. To find out in and it Jason Varitek. Gordon what did the scouts that you talked to think of Jason Bay as a player and and also what they think of the Red Sox chances now the bay is there and Manny is now.

That's what the Red Sox captain -- and from from Boston's perspective meetings and pay. Been that the numbers here is -- this has been widely discussed of course in the after. The trade with the numbers that that Jason was putting up this year that were very much comparable. To what any has done this season in -- we're talking about a 36 year old Manny -- not a -- in his prime. Whereas -- is entering his prime. And you guys watched Friday night I think. -- you broadcast Friday night. What's the last time seemed daddy hit a triple -- he you know Jason -- in his first game at a triple Manny hit two. Our yearlong and and that's about what he's averaged a last few years is to it he makes a terrific action in -- clearly he's planned parties he's the kind of guy -- his -- right it would describe. I think they've -- that the big conversations palace is going to come in October because Danny's been a tremendous October performer. I think they can win the division but. I -- do they match up against the Cubs Phillies Mets come October that's good question amicus. Since he's become general manager but the one guy who really has issues with trading Manny is the owner John Henry. One do you think that's true and two is is John Henry. Having. Seller's remorse today when he sees Manny Ramirez have such a great start with the doctors.

It's absolutely true Michael in the end I mean -- want part they've that there hasn't been any whispers about its effective appeal. I was willing to to construct a Red Sox future without any repairs for years mr. put amount on irrevocable waivers -- three that. That's why you need to know and it take about how many times. Deals do get made in the month of August the Eric Gagne deal came down on the month of August last year. Do you think Theo is in hot pursuit of some relief help for this team.

I I'm not so sure that they hot pursuit. Is it would be the way to describe it DL and I'm sure that they will explore. What's out there. I think the reason they didn't make a deal before the trading deadline is in in if you look around baseball. Nobody really made a big deal for relief pitching I guess that the Marlins getting Arthur -- that the deadline but. What teams were asking for guys. Like -- basic JJ puts in -- was more than think about going to pay him more than not. Diaw was willing to -- it's certainly -- even you know if you if you take it I'm not so sure. They -- you -- relievers are are going to be up. Are appear on waivers and if they I I think teams will still trying and drive a fairly hard bargain purchase. All the guys back off.

Gordon we've had many. Arguments with our listeners over body language and they sell a guy doesn't look right he looks like he's pouting. Well I'm going to be a hypocrite mention body language when I saw David Ortiz.

While he he looked so sad. Do you think. I'm reading too much into that and what's your sense. As best as you can tell what's your sense of the relationship between Ortiz -- Manny.

First month I'm with you and completely on on the interpreting David's reaction Friday. He was -- very very subdued. Member of that ballclub the most subdued by fox. On on Friday and there was no. Into -- him in his words and side in in any of the interviews that that I listened to or spot subsequently saw later that that he it would -- I think people overstate. How close David in any work in terms of the personal relationship. I don't think they with a big. Buddies that that everybody. But they were. In fact I think in you know part of any complain about being -- in. Is said he didn't have any real close friends other than you know that's it's Julian -- And which is entirely different from from what -- situation wise in Cleveland but I think David is an eight Q what is in.
