It was great to see Andre Tippett did and with the rest of those guys with a good group too classy group with with the Zimmerman and monk. And Gerald Green and Emmitt Thomas. You know just a lot of great players. With some supportive fans in the Washington fans took over can't know I had it did. But he used you began in earlier this week was amazing.
I I talk to Stacy yeah I talked to Stacey this morning Stacy was in can't win them. Impact on ray mentioned Stacy and in part of the speech and and Stacy said he had worked so hard. You know and and you know tip you know this this -- locked him -- And he really put a lot of effort into Witten as Stacy told me it worked so part of advice from a former. Hall of Fame prisoner who said Andre I guess at one point in a couple of months ago set -- What you say isn't even as important as how you say it. And I disagree with that -- content was also great but his presentation was perfect. You know talking about how the the guys that the hall of famers were there were his hero isn't. And you know turning to his family and thank and his mom and talkin' about you know. How she brought in -- than what they know move and a new work with nothin' but the clothes on their back and I just I I thought tip was you know.
I just think from afar. You know you you're looking at it and obviously I've never played the superbowl and knock on the whole thing. Only as a visitor. And I've been there as a visitor BP. But I would think for guys who have done both it would seem going to the Hall of Fame might even -- in the Super Bowl.
No I actually think what I mean because it's because it's a career acknowledgment yeah I mean you played on a team that had a great year. And and your team won it all and you work if your Hall of Fame caliber you were obviously key contributor. But if you get into the Hall of Fame it's saying you weren't just great that. To work -- a lot.
A year heroes drape over and over in now I want you you're great how much of the meat. This person who has great forty years before you played. Maybe forty years before you were born. And now you get to go to luncheons with them and you get to sign your name 88 left. Oh wait. Just like they sign HOF 79 or 85 whatever it is. But. I actually think. That the that the Hall of Fame class. We're not helping -- the Hall of Fame voters that they got just right. You know trade wing go was quoted -- Mayor -- Perot had a piece you know she does -- media account yeah. She quoted trade winkle is -- baseball has too many voters. And in football doesn't have enough well you think baseball has too many are fine. But I like. The fact that 44 guys. Are in charge of it and that it's hard and it took Condrey capital a lot of time to get in and that it took art monk a long time to get him maybe they need to refine the standard today. But when you get into the NFL Hall of Fame even get there by --
And -- you've done something Ron Borges was like tireless advocate for Andrei -- is that so and even thanked him as part of his speech. Ron it year after year would make the case for why Andre Tippett should be in the Hall of Fame. Peter King has told us about those meetings in that Roman and or just making the case and getting impassioned about it as I -- Borges can do.
Less -- a lot of people on this station. Says some things about rob boards especially. One bit about it took over and have a fondness for bill politics Monday night. -- When he was on with us and Europe vacation fifteen says of the effect with the confined to burger or Carmelo or brown Bryant confined. He said something about going into a dark Alley report -- though -- and I got a great job. That's my guy. Is glad. To see him be ours because he didn't win a Super Bowl when he played here at the misfortune. Playing on some or an awful teams yeah some flat out that the team but those guys. There's. Action. Just look Hall of Fame guys have to respect. That. That's palpable that you feel. This. This morning during the conference call watching. That scrimmage last. Scrimmage -- Between. Between Washington and the Colts. Well I had Emmitt Thomas hall of Famer great quarterback. Commit to the -- John Madden and Al Michaels. In Madden hall of -- St. Thomas. We played against Uga. All -- We played -- knew we were going -- the best one. The left corner. That I had to prepare for not just an -- you hear that you really he really gave us some trouble and it was just it was an honor to watch you play. Back fortnight in the interview. Thomas says two out you know things out thank you and he turns to Matt -- thanks coach. So there's just a level of respect there is not delicate John Madden as a guy from the video games and look at John Madden. As a commentator -- for NBC. He still sees John Madden as a coach and a Hall of Fame --
Football players in particular use that term with reverend yes coach I mean. Every player who ever played for the Dallas Cowboys to the state talks about coach Landry. I mean it's coach Landry it's coach Noll. United that coach Lombardi. And and when -- talking to that coach if they still have the opportunity if they're still with us they always refer to them -- coach it's. It it's it's a title. And almost use it and them I'm not trying to. Equate sports and religion when when you know I'm not Catholic. When it when I would say father you know. Father Feeney -- father it's it's great CA communism it's a title said with with reverence and respect that's the way football players look at the term. Coach if they played for a guy and I don't particularly like. You know it's bill over here it's calm it's. But if if they had a respectable up for that person it's coach -- I had to do this -- politics still calls Al Davis Cup coach. -- We did have a cut -- the cut of Andre. And and his speech if you haven't seen it yet didn't get it online pressure Patriots dot com they must happen in fact that I haven't looked at Patriots dot com today but. -- almost promise you that it's on there if it's not it will be soon if you get the chance to see it. His delivery his words I I just about the whole thing with great. Well done and -- you had a you at a a cut I think from and this was Tippett talking about the linebackers.
good backers. I love you call black new life so low groove and remembered Reynolds now -- we weren't tight rope. We word of backers and I'm sorry for not having a T shirt this year. At at and I bet Nellie with just smiling. Right went in his inaugural. To all my other teammates if you view we work it in your contribution to the New England Patriots. A lot of times and some great memories. Owens who shall wage. Might change. I was into the young guys challenged me thinking oh man on the team you think you guys.
It was great he did a great job go to -- I'm sure it's there. And I'll check and make sure but if you get a chance and haven't seen yet. Do yourself a favor canoes to acted in self very proud.
