Jim Brown, NFL Hall of Fame RB

It is an honor on Sports Radio here in Boston to welcome in NFL hall of Famer the legendary Jim brown. Good afternoon mister brown good afternoon how you very well well behind doing today and then found him hold him and talk. You know we were we were talking earlier about the relationship you have with Bill -- in it goes back a long time you guys have been friends for a long time.

That's true my respect me committee each other. And I worked as a consultant for him when he was told to do it. And he was able to Miami. Well being and to when you and Mota of course with the team so says there's been -- Weston come from. Very low point. Him coming one and is coached and have -- and that's. So I'm so happy asked investment but just between you and me believe you have two cups of and he suspension since suspension now so let him say that past patently stupid.

You know I saw a really powerful quote from you about Bill Belichick and Sports Illustrated a few years ago you said Bill Belichick has done more for black athletes. Then almost anybody out there in sports today. What what did you mean by that comment in what what led you to say that.

Well he's done more for. Gangster culture it. And then this and franchise and that of course -- Americans because they kept out of -- He has worked with the American foundation for years he's been in my home my himself with these gang -- sitting in the living room. You an example of someone that's too soon and trying to -- around. His understanding Cleveland hotel. He's been to a deal with and he's been to a school with his put money into that athletes he's done everything that he could do. So quietly. Man if I needed to call on and I could call on the minute time last night -- can peacemakers initiative. He was therefore bound to happen this lady and he spoke and told people -- supportive of -- I can't and so when he hasn't done so months. And I looked around and I hear on the talk in his you know they're -- his -- kind of amazing.

Could you tell us about the American American program because he taught me a while ago that he. He was there with you would he was he was in the semi circle everybody's going around talking about. What they've done and what the problems that it felt Thomas of the problem they had -- announced it marries him. I'll talk about my kids. I didn't get -- great physical Mark my kids not really new ways to spell Philly he's steady -- kind of out of place but he was honored to be that just tells about the program little.

Well I'm America has and curriculum like man whose skills which allows brewers to win the self esteem of and it teaches in the fundamentals and I took responsible for their own actions. Which is drama to allow for us to be successful his successes have been enough of this nation. The feeling Cincinnati participated in you no longer build -- uses another human being. Well when you look at the world and you look at diplomacy -- war. You -- for global peace. And you'd like to talk to a greater understanding rather than talking to these categories blackness whiteness that -- know these kind of things. And we had put systems in place of American curriculum to bring about changes in the individual. But what is the international message. Dominican peace -- International masters does that on human beings deserving equal opportunity to enjoy freedom equality and justice. So we won't always be able to represent the -- of individuals. Who would be in the peacemakers. And we can invite. Every human being to be upon. Of the peace. The commercial side of it is that we're gonna raise to a million dollars -- next year to plant to the violence. The young gang things killing each of them changed the face of that and also going to help a lot of these schools who need help desperately. To make the saves look and did you get kids to a ten and that dropped out. And -- grade point averages better attendance endless disciplinary actions this is clear that could make.

Jim when you played you were unafraid to speak about social issues bill Russell we know in Boston was not afraid to speak about about any today after I you know they can you have you have challenged professional athletes do the same is -- African American athletes specifically or is it all happens that you like to see. Take more to social responsibility on the line Steelers on Africans amused is all Americans on athletes. But on the --

If you lose. Thing when your pin pointed. African American male who now is an -- position really as a responsibility. To come together and to make significant contribution to to change in the then -- about country. Not just have a foundation to retain his two zoo. That's okay and that's -- charity but to put them money. And this celebrity and and and and cohesion with other wounds and do some things that -- this you do things in the schools. The schools are waiting on those country. To get -- You want to do in the community there organizations that are waiting Americans willing to embrace them and have them join forces Loretta a step this. But why not because of struggle goes on the Fritz Pollard alliance last night had a commissioner and mister Rooney. And the head of the officials and officials that are going to officiate consumable. And Doug Williams and Kellen Winslow. In the whole thing just a struggle to make it a balanced playing field took the commissioner is in the hood at a restaurant. Only an African American and mister Rooney and -- the most revenue and then in this country. Great Steelers can be sitting there working on changed. You're going to kill me that some of these of the young athletes and being on the same thing the struggle goes on we'll continue to go out.
