What do well I was just you know I would -- this long thing of conflict -- resolution problems solving because you are scheduled at the same time as Jerry rice. Announced Allendale. I was afraid nobody could find but he gets repeatedly here. -- you have you have been trying to just a couple dollars a checks in the mail hey tell me about. The date you and build decided yet we think this Randy Moss thing is going to work let's go get him for our football team tell us how you came to that decision finally.

Well I think it's. You we had talked about it we didn't know was going to be a possibility then you know the first -- of the drafted did you know the phone conversations and even start until the end of the first day which is pretty late in the had to take one on between bill -- probably you'll until about 1:30 the morning. And two these silly that the whole process was maybe ten or eleven hours and then. You know I don't I don't know there's no specific moment -- we don't. Do we do things differently we don't sit around have conversations sail board I think it is going to work out now -- I don't think is going to war units -- there's sitters. It's fortunately it has worked out -- and trail rated it's fabulous.

We were just having a conversation about you behind your back got talking about the the dynamic between you and Bill Belichick and I was -- you can say about it and I can't. I was just trying to say that to dale you and bill have a situation or relationship that you know many people in the league just can't really relate to and that's it. You know. Pretty 90% of the time 95% of the time what kind of players he's looking for so you don't have to have that conversation with him daily. Hey bill would you like this do you like this guy or -- can this guy play for you you already know that is that a fair characterization of the relationship.

Because if you because you're financing from -- values stamp on what we're looking for it's the same thing and there's -- trust there right clear is that that bill has with speed up going to be bringing him the type players that he knows there's going to be. A player that he wants to coach and had to play that'll fit into the system and they get from a makeup standpoint. And obviously knowing what he he's looking for from a player perspective but here here's the one of the biggest. Things I think in the relationship is. It's basically personal relationship and build I. I believe we do pretty solid job of managing or egos and when we get into decision making and what we have disagreements and or arguments and Michael you use. Do when you're writing your book you heard some of those descriptions of those arguments. It never becomes personal it's never becomes about built trying to. Proved me wrong and if he -- it it's never about trying to prove the other person wrong. -- to be it's about getting the decision right it never we remove Corey goes from those at -- when you make good decisions it's not about. Winning the argument about getting it right.

When you've had your off season and put together your football team when you finally. Have the group pretty much put together that you were going to go into the season with -- I'm sure you have certain expectations of what you could accomplish and what -- team could accomplish. Did you ever think this.

No I never think. You know where we're at right now you just never we didn't take candidates people think it's cliche or just they just weren't that we genuinely. Think game to game week to week I think all of us so that we had a chance to be a pretty good football team but that we -- going to have a chance to compete for the division championship and and hopefully beyond that. And you don't -- years we used we are back in July and August or even back in a base in June. There's so -- things that you know we can happen along the way and that are completely out of your control what those -- injuries or is some sort of roster attrition or. There's there's a lot of dynamics that are that are out of your control so I made out of us. In this operation ever think that -- now all the belt line because figure you're sitting expectations and any targets that certain expectations. To hire realistically you can't control certain pictures of soap opera failure emotionally.

When did you when did you and bill and this entire football operations staff really. Start to evaluate the 2006 season. And saying all right this is what we need to do in 2007 we have we figured out what did that process began.

This indices and ended up you know it suited him that the we gave in the it's just. The issue is -- Big East setup which you believe -- things that you need to improve on or get better on. But there's always this city state expect that holes here theory of supply and demand even though you have certain needs. You're options may be limited or they've been not been and so against some of that stuff is out of your control so you do you identify what you're beat Goran I think that you want to improve -- that you want to get better sometimes you gotta. A system that's set a certain way you to just bought by virtue of the way. Did that free agency went last year and a -- into this year that we you know alter our offense a little bit. So you don't eat it -- it's a matter of supply and demand as well.

You know it's got every time anyone from the patriots mentions Indianapolis last year you mention that with hushed tones -- minutes almost like. Bet that taboo subject I call that ugly day is is that your Dave just does this tell Steve moment.

That's not I top half they should bring that up my -- well -- But couples would welcome it -- it you don't it is it's just. From me personally it's just one of those things that we'll stick with -- For a lot of reasons.

Scotty you listen and and watched the the run talent -- money. FF -- Atlanta and as he listened and watched the run up to the Super Bowl. Are you being used by some of the things you see and hear on TV on the radio in the newspaper does it amuse you because you know what the real story is behind the scenes.

I don't. I've got gotta be honest does the right thing that they but it got to be -- I don't put amuses me is that. Because they have too much respect for the game and I think some -- things. That we see in some of these the self promotion and some days some of the stuff is gotten so far away from football. That again just the way that I am personally but on -- disrespectful to the game meant to what role do you too. People that are professionals and it's but it that's just my own personal feeling.
