Michael Jeter I don't ever one on answerable question I would guess short of talking to Mike Pereira about this but I'm just curious. Arguably the two biggest football game nodding in arguably the two biggest football games the NFL this year have been the colts patriots game. And last night's Green Bay Dallas game. Both were worked by rookie refereed John Perry any in both cases yet his crows were awful how does that happen

you know I think. Officiating -- Eric signed to some degree by random geography. I mean. What you'll notice is a lot of times you'll notice it is that that Cruz will be sort of you know group by where they're from in the country and you know you'll often see for instance. You know the the new security officials doing you know games on the east coast. There's there's an umpire a couple umpires from. California I know who would do games -- but I think it suck it's almost like by -- the geography you have Cruz. That you mostly eastern games that they try to make sure that they buried. And don't see that same -- more than a couple of times per year and I believe. That that during the regular season. And I am not saying it's coincidental obviously they knew that is that this was a rookie. Official in both cases I do find it I noticed that last night. Except for myself before the game last night I thought he married she ducked under the hood on the NFL network. And say hello to John Perry they what do you do when I said while at the same -- in the patriots -- I'll tell you that. The call like thought was with abominable was what happened when al Eric stole the ball.

I don't -- I was going to ask you about that I was -- I got -- I don't I didn't think they did I think it's screwed up entirely.

it -- that was ridiculous and here's why because you had one guy who had a clear view of that play. Okay who came in right away and pointed. The Green Bay all. Okay but when he was overruled and it was called Dallas ball because forward progress had been stopped. And when you go to replay at a whole different kettle of fish. When you're trying to establish whether the guy actually whether Owens had possession of course he had possession. You know he had possession and then the ball was stolen.

As it was he had history problem so there.

It would but that was a terrible call and it made it and again who knows what one game that 888 different. In the outcome of the game in my opinion. Because that would have swung the momentum usually early on in this game but dale I think you're right I think it's an interesting question that I do think. It two factors randomness in geography rule how the NFL that it's -- for.

Well I guess a follow up question to that. Is that what recourse do coaches have like for example last night Mike McCarthy you -- read is that he said it was a bad call it was a W got a wrong it was a bad call on -- in his head.

'cause well their record that he has has to pick up the phone today in the called Mike Pereira which and I have not -- of where I don't know he did but. There's nothing that you can do it it's human error it's a fact of life the way things happened in the NFL and I've been -- now be yet totally ridiculous. The the sun is out goody two shoes guys but in my opinion. Those things even out over the course of the year I don't know what. That can look at the calls that are made at the end of the year and say well we had 15 close calls this year 14 win against them. Are 15 wrong calls. And 141 against the it just doesn't happen I mean it's unfortunate that it happened but that the Packers add up --

I was worried today -- as -- at least in my view of the way the NFL works Brett part gets hurt and you feel his pain. So I was worried. But I'm not going to I went and laid down last night.

Well you know I was thinking about -- watching the game last night I think you know for years the Packers have been wait for a moment. To truly find out whether Aaron -- their quarterback of the future. I mean because before last night middle of the second quarter if I had asked you what should the Packers it would quarterback when our quit. -- and I we would I had no idea because we have no idea -- Rogers is we've seen in the pre season a couple of times. I -- but other than that we don't know what kind of player he has. And last night even though you can tell that McCartney was calling plays. There was suited especially they have you know the short crosses the passes in the flat. I thought he made some excellent decisions after being a little bit jittery right away but -- some excellent decisions that -- somebody this morning you know. I could -- about a month ago response that and we -- up shoot the breeze about things back that havoc on any goat. Is that you know you don't want to say. That the best thing for you is. Sitting on the bench and watching -- you're watching anybody no matter -- anybody but he said what happened to me is that now Donald driver can look me in the face. And know that I know what I'm doing. No that I have to cut that he I know that yet confident. Play I'm going to be okay that to be honest media that wasn't the -- the first you're probably the first two years so that's the one good thing as far as I'm concerned in the Packard became.

Using your your usual neutral field in Wichita analogy would things be different. If the cowboys and patriots played again today

no I think they play another close game. I think the patriots are better the one thing that encouraged me. As far as the long -- Super Bowl aspect. Of the NFL right now if I'm looking at these. Right now if I'm looking at the NFL the event for the last couple weeks have told me that that the patriots are going to have a game on their hands in the superbowl I mean I think most people ought that they probably would. Well I think now. You look at the cowboys this an explosive team with a very confident quarterback. Of very -- big play receiver Terry -- is running again they're probably going to have land by the middle of December should be able to play you know in the playoff mean. The cowboys are going to be a threat especially if they -- the effort like it is let.

Peter it was a bad week in the National Football League and one tragic incident that happened in in south Florida. Have we had any indication up till now. That the the tragic shooting of Sean Taylor was nothing more than a random active committed buyout perpetrate or in his home is there anything worse here that. That could be to come.

I think there is. But that's just a gut feeling I have after talking to a part two now let the six players. Who were teammate of Taylor's either in Miami here at the University of Miami or with the reds in. And and I but I cannot park -- rose that the most damning thing all that this is no random act if somebody out it depends on Taylor. And you know look a -- I don't know anything right now really but I do know what these players have told me that. You know -- college. Hear hear the thing without sounding like I'm an expert in any way at any of that. Violence you know that that that exists right now particularly. In some of the cities where you have seen -- in the police have more trouble containing. Some of use violence. And that is that. You know when your kid 181920 years old. You're going to do things if you don't -- a second -- and you know are going to want former player Miami. Told that it -- whenever I'm going to club in eatery Coral Gables or somewhere around that campus where there're a million different nationalities and indeed some some pretty rough people ever going to club. Somebody bumps into me out of here rhetoric might alter is all the turnaround -- apologize for. Because who knows people were crazy and you know they don't like with the Darrent Williams. How did Eric Williams it -- he got killed because they're word. But there was there was a very polite and second argument. Between two people in and night club in -- who clock in the morning. And somebody get mad -- pentagon so I have. No idea what could have happened in his apt but I do know is that a lot of people who know on our our not right now buying. The initial police reactions that it was probably orient them burglary because the reason that that makes no sense to me. Is that someone may be two different people I don't know. But there were two great in which on -- eight days apart and nothing they. So what where burglary and you know I IE person like me would say. They won't they were looking for Sean Taylor somebody was. And and out of the second time in the air but. Again I have to admit what what the -- the wind we we all have to take that back and let the police -- operate.

Maybe the most ironic aspect of this whole case is the reports that Sean Taylor used to have the balls on that property pit bulls which would protect him. In the aftermath of the Michael -- case he got rid of all the pitfalls and you know you have to wonder if he'd be alive today --

Well I had a very emotional conversation last night -- like considered the one the one in the best. People in the NFL right now the tackles for the reds in the when he was a rookie out of Alabama I'd get along -- before the draft that is if this is Dave is the first class. Really good guy. And he just told me that in -- That the reason that that the guy -- right now so that. And be because that the guy who in the last -- On his daughter was born is that you know we eat it after game a lot of -- will go out -- and he -- everybody you know we go out. Mostly places and that I have not on two years. This guy you know some people -- yeah I have changed my life that this guy. -- nothing anymore out public heated heated go out -- is that because he got in trouble early career. He's just go home and be -- his girlfriend and his baby daughter. And so that's why it you know the picture it's pain I believe is. An accurate one is turbulent life in college in probably early on his pro career and he was just getting to the point where 24 years old he was understanding that. I'm settled down at the reason I am only be good guys be responsible leadership story I'm hearing problem. About about him are just ridiculous about this.

By the way within the last couple of minutes Fox News is reporting now that three people have been detained in the Sean Taylor can.

That area there that have been here I think it is 11 quick story about. That London Fletcher Allen he's -- you know training camp this year and and early on in the season. You know he hated taking plays -- And so like he's that we be on the sidelines. To be hot date September and the scout team would be out here -- it would work and so there'd be a practice squad safety in the here and Taylor would run out. -- I haven't backed in and say hey I got this go out any run a few theories and Fletcher was. Incredulous that this disease that you know -- with -- war I don't let there's massive injuries or their starters nevermind starters go out -- You know it they don't have to you know scout team and any asked about it and he just basically that the today. It gives the offense the better look at what you know what what do -- do you know on the side. It eat it get each one of these guys like -- because we really didn't know. You know he was not a parker treated like the -- very and because we really didn't know I think I think he's the guy who is so much more highly regarded by by the players who played with them. Then by anybody on the public because in essence we did it --

You know Peter after tragedy hit the Gulf Coast in 2005 in this city of New Orleans specifically with hurricane Katrina and by extension the saints. It was pretty predictable that the saints we're going to have disastrous season they didn't do well on the field this is smaller scale because it's one person on one team. But what do you expect the Washington Redskins to do now that that one of their leaders is gone and gone and tragic way.

You know Michael -- is just an absolute gut feeling but I think the combination. Of tailored debt with him being so well respected. The fact -- his father came and spoke to the team on Wednesday and in -- hold them. That and it and it's corny but. Sean would not want anybody to do anything but the go out here. If our if everybody played it the year you know. You've got to go on these things happen it was -- I've -- credibly. Pragmatic realistic emotional speed but you've -- you've got to go you don't live. And and that's what the fact that a guy like when ordered. Is taking -- debt extremely hard but but not so hard that I mean he knows. That deep down you have complete games like against the Buffalo Bills but they'd be. You know his best friend would would want it that way so I would I guess what I would say is that. Some guys I'm sure will be overcome by emotion will be rain it will be hard for them. But I would guess that the majority of guys on this. Will be determined -- their lives repeat repeat it.

patriots lose one of their next five games and if so which one.

you know what I I have thought all along that this Baltimore game. Is the only in the mind gains for the patriot. But I watched a lot of the ravens in Diego last week in the air brought -- And I don't think unless. The patriots turn it over or I don't think the patriots lose this mean it's going to be. The crowd will be into with ray Lewis will be playing a game like it's the last -- he ever plays -- when he plays -- It'll be -- very very fired up. The sense that the patriots will say this is still I think before it rated the instantly he'd been only a couple but two point. The other -- in Diego. Here the one guy like they will be a load for the patriots and that Kelly Gregg. It defensive tackle he's got a very good year. He's the kind of defensive tackle presence that he's not really -- your classic nose tackle type guy. -- night through create havoc in the backfield I mean he's going to load -- everybody to play. -- be -- for the opening company if -- this Monday but Mike gut feeling is this won't be game I mean I think dale I I really think it's going to come down to one of two things. In Ben Roethlisberger played the same game they take the lead late. Four and the New York Giants white thing will be on the precipice will be playing for some. That last week because I don't think the giants are going to be in in the next couple weeks like most people do you know and the New York Giants back.

For the wall playing at home you know can nate. Play well enough and that last -- to upset them because you know what I don't know what you guys feel about this but. I really get the feeling with the bye week after that that the patriots are going to have to play that giants game. Maybe not four quarters but picked they're going to say I don't think Bill Belichick wants to starters to be off for three weeks in essence before playing. A meaningful game arm -- many of its starters so I would think. That if Roethlisberger can play a great game. For the giants speed and can play great game. That's where they would have a chance to lose but -- right but the mortgage on them right now I'm with the mortgage and 60 you know.

Peter what are your your opinion on this how does the a loss of Roosevelt Colvin for the season affect the patriots defects.

But -- great question I think what was so great about the patriots line backing. Crew is that you know as as you guys have seen Belichick over the years. He played each game as basically an individual matchup been doesn't. Do one thing and one thing only. You know it's say hey come and stop us because we're going to do this -- some games that they would Thomas is getting 20 snaps some games it 50. And and I think there the way that they played. And rotated their linebackers their almost built to be able to hate. One injury. In the linebacker group. And plus I think we have the benefit now Michael when you bring in Chad brown let's say Chad brown is 78% the player. You know that he was when he was really good. Well what he is though is -- a guy who knows if the offense has played in this speed and and is that type of bettering. Type warrior who's not gonna worry about anything like playing time or anything he's just gonna come and say hey whatever you want me to do. So although I think. Colvin -- you know his quickness from the outside in and things like that it is is intimate knowledge it is -- and I think picking up you know picking up if you don't Chad what was in essence. It isn't like pick it up a guy off the street and so I I think this is an injury that this team will be able. To make up for. And unless they get another guy injured in -- In that line backing core I don't think they're going to feel lost Coleman as hard as people might think.

Baltimore ravens have won four games this year they've managed to beat Arizona the jets San Francisco and saint Louis. They are not going to win one -- night.

I don't think so either I think. I think if you're. Most valuable thing for the ravens this week is hey you know Kyle bowler might have a didn't play great game 88. I don't think he -- He might nobody thought that AJ Feeley was going to play the way he did the other day which is one of the reasons why the NFL as the greatest game on the planet. It because he just never ever know. And it was a compelling game when everybody thought it'd be 55 not -- at the end three quarters but just tell you this. The interesting thing for the ravens point of view is. They're going to probably have a top ten draft choice Brian billick is going to come back next year. He might lose some guys -- offensive that he might want to lose some guys on the offensive but this is the -- That have to make a decision right now. On whether it's going to pick Matt Ryan Andre Woodson Brian brom or whether they're going to go with Kyle bowler president try to four. Build a little fortress around them may be taken other good tackle in the draft but they're going to need to find that out the next month than -- this will be the crucible game for Kyle bowler I think he knows --

As the problem is signed a new contract you know reported to be. Alien because you never really know the figures. Of course absolutely and it should get this day I mean what if you if you hire. A 30 something football coach. Who's never been a head coach in answer. And you can't have a job in the first year make the playoffs and the second period and absolute debacle. Mean should get fired a guy if you fire that guy then you're saying you know what we were really wrong about this. And near woody Johnson or Mike in involvement ready to make that statement if they're mean Jeanie gets fired it will be because. Of of some incident. To me that that. Doesn't have to do we is he eat you know it doesn't have to do with a -- Xs and knows or or how we've coach in the it'll be something else entirely because you know you've got to give this guy it's in the role that he hasn't and yet.
